Excess of omega-6 fats can cause neuroinflammation and certainly we as a family have been getting too much of it that we need to watch our consumption of it from inconspicuous sources. So I just want to take note on what food could make us get too much of omega-6s:
- Canola oil
- Corn oil
- Soy oil
- Sunflower oil
- Safflower oil
The healthy ratios are around 1:1 or 2:1, that will build a healthy brain tissue (see page 76-78 from The Healthy Brain Book by two doctors, William Sears and Vincent M. Fortanasce).
How much Omega-6 can you eat then? If I have to follow the recommendation from the optometrist, I need to consume about 4000 mg/day of Omega-3. So it should be about 4000-8000 mg/day for Omega-6.
