This is a simple recipe to make ginger turmeric tea. This version does not have any sugar.
If you take any medications, please consult your doctor first before consuming this as turmeric has some blood thinning properties and may interact with medications. Piperine in black pepper may also increase absorption of medicine and that may not be a good thing.
1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger root (1/2 teaspoon if using powdered form)
1 teaspoon fresh grated turmeric root
1/4 teaspoon of black pepper (to increase curcumin absorption)
- Heat 8-10 oz of water to a boil and turn the heat to low just to let it simmer
- Add ginger and turmeric
- Add black pepper
- Let it simmer for 10 minutes
- Turn off the heat and let it cool (or at least warm) before serving
Makes 1 cup.
